Wastegate solenoid code 1690 Help
I have a problem with my 99 f250 super duty 7.3 It lost power yesterday for about 1/2 mile and then stalled out. It tries to
start when you crank it and did start once for about 5 or 10 seconds. I drained the fuel filter bowl twice, no help. I pulled the codes and it has code 1690(wastegate malfunction) Any ideas??? |

I would say unplug the wastegate it will not harm anything. But you should also check to see if you are getting enough pressure from the high pressure oil pump to fire the injectors.
A common problem on the 7.3 is the ICP sensors they go out. It is on the drivers side head on the front unplug it sends the computer into default and if it starts and runs then there is your issue. I have a 95 that the ICP went out and would crank and crank and start sometimes then die replaced the sensor and fixed the issue.' If the ICP is faulty it will tell the computer it has no oil pressure to fire the injecotrs and will not start or may start only sometimes. This sensor will cause a lose of power. |

Thx
Thx for the reply. I checked the wastegate actuator and the high pressure oil pump, both checked good. Unhooked the batteries and started it. It ran good for about 5 min and then started to run rough again. We added some new fuel and some heet. It smoothed out after about a minute and is running fin so far. Hope bad fuel is all it was.

Do not use anything with alcohol in it because it can damage things quick on diesel trucks. |
