Diesel Issues
Hey everyone. I just got an '01 F350 Powerstroke. I as driving it yesterday and I noticed a couple things. I noticed that if I let off the gas pedal the truck sounds almost like it is missing then it goes to what sounds like a normal idle. Also, the check engine light comes on if the truck idles for a long time. It will come on then go right back off and stay off for a minute then repeat. The light will also come on then go right out under acceleration. I don't have a code reader but maybe this is somethign that has happened to someone else.
Thanks. |

What you are experiencing when you let off the peddle is completely normal. As for the light, you need to get it scanned to see what it is. During acceleration if it's chipped, the light may be the HPOP not keeping up which is normal but you shouldn't see it during idle.

Please fill out your signature and location so we know where you live and what we are working on. Not your address, just general location, it helps for determining possible temps. You need to get the truck scanned. Just because the light is off the codes are still there until they are cleared. If you are close to be I will scan it for you for FREE.
Otherwise folks are just guessing, so get it scanned first. The FREE scans at auto stores will not work since we are not OBDII compliant. |

Well I pulled the code and got a P1316. I also went out to drive my truck this morning and it was a little hard starting. Long crank and it finally started. I have been doing some reading and I'm suspecting the UVCH connector. If I am understanding properly this issue could cause the hard start and the check engine light. Thoughts??
