Trailer Plug trouble????

For the past couple of weeks my right turn signal on my trailer was not working. I went to change the bulb today and was surprised to find that the bulb was still good. So I got my multimeter out and decided to test the terminals on the plug. They all tested good except the one that was supposed to be the right turn signal terminal. After messing around with it enough neither of them were working. I pulled the stock pig tail off where it plugged into the factory wiring harness by the spare tire and tested it there and also recieved no signal from either turn signal. The weird thing about all of this is that the terminals had power to the running lights, and all of the lights were still working on my truck. I found the fuse labeled as the "trailer stop light" I think it was fuse #13 and it still looked good. Can anyone help me, I'm supposed to haul my trailer to move into my house this weekend?????

Hey thanks for responding Marc!!!! How did I know I could count on you to be the first one to reply??? That's useful info knowing that relay is under the hood. Is there any way to check it other than listening for it to click???

well, yes and know, without some pretty detailed info, no.....if you know power and ground to the coil, you can energize hte coil and then check resistance throught the switched part of the relay, but this is a pretty complicated procedure......

a common way to check it is to first see if it clicks, and then swap it with a relay in the same fuse panel, that has the same part number on it. if it works afterwards, that tells you your problem.......Marc

Nothing wrong with pulling out all the tools! At least you know where they are the next time you need them, right?
