Cannot get dipstick gauge assembly to stop leaking oil!
Okay the dipstick gauge adapter that goes into the oil pan was leaking a lot. So i bought a new nut and o-ring from ford and did the job. It leaked again so i replaced the o-ring and nut again thinking i had overtightened it the first time. Well it starting leaking right away again!. So i ended up pulling the motor out to fix the front cover. So while it was out i replaced the oil pan, new gauge adapter , o-ring , and nut. Made sure it was only snugged and not cross threaded etc. I also replaced the o-ring on the dipstick tube with the special cut one. Well it was fine for about 300k of driving after i put the motor back in, but it started LEAKING AGAIN!.
Honestly i am about at an end with this truck. And i am about to sell it at this point. DOes anyone have any ideas of why it keeps leaking?. The only thing i did not replace is the dipstick tube assembly. If the dipstick tube is bent ( which i believe it is) will it cause an oil leak? |

Sell it because of a leak?
Sure it's the seal against the pan and not the where the tube slides into the adapter? Try using RTV or Loctite sealant on the O-rings? |

I am thinking it might be the tube that slides into the adapter. It has a new o-ring on it though. Could it still leak? And do i put silicone on the tube itself or >?
Yes i would sell it because of a leak. I have spent too many hours fixing them on this truck. WHat about flange sealant? i smearing a bunch onto the "key" assembly on the adapter. Should i fill the tube slot up with it too? |

I used the kit from Diesel O-Rings (Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines) for my leak and it's holding up fine. Sure you used all new and correct o-rings and outer seal?
