7.3 powerstroke runs roughs and dies
was driving home today when my truck started running rough and had to power, so i pull off to the side of the road and it ran real crappy then died. started up and ran real rough and died again. so i remembered i chnaged the fuel filter so i pulled it out and put it back it after it looked fine. started up ran for a few blocks just fine then died again and wouldnt start agan, so i pulled the fuel filter again put it back in started up got to my house barly down the street and died as i pulled into my driveway. did samething again started up runs fine sitting there until i start to drive it again and dies. any suggestions?. it also use to stall at stop lights, idleing there or making slow turns with my foot off the gas pedal.

ned to chek oil level and make sure its been changed recently, but sounds more like fuel pump taking a dump to me, wouldnt be a bad idea to get codes pulled either

How does it run when warmed up?
This is what you do...start it up in the driveway, and let it get to operating temp. THEN drive it. If it runs ok after warming up, your oil is really low and/or the oil level in the HPOP resevour is low. Eitherway...check your oil levels. If it runs like poo even after it's warmed up, I dunno....possibly crap in the fuel lines. |

Mine did that a while back. I unplugged the icp sensor, and it ran fine. Plug it back in, rough. It will set a ses light when you unplug it, but it might smooth out. Mine wasn't a bad sensor, I just had to clean the terminals so it would make a better connection

to check the HPOP lvl is it the allin wrench bolt ontop of it? if so i cant unscrew it. it bent my allin wrench. also when i have the fuel filter out and turn on the key the fuel filter resivor fills up way fast with fuel.

workin
changed the fuel filter. started truck up and was still idleing a little rough. when i would give it gas and let idle back down it would cut out a bit. let it run for about and 1 hour in driveway and took it out seems to be running fine for now..
