Trailer Wiring Q
1999 F350
Ok, I had a Teknosha? Brake controller, No lights come on when depressing the brakes Or when I manually Rack the slide over....Is it supposed to? All others Ive had prior have had atleast an indicator light come on. 2nd. My truck has a 5 Pin? Trailer wiring connector in the Bumper where the 2nd License plate light would go...Would it just be better for me to put a 7 pin connector Below the bumper like the newer trucks? All the trailers I have are 7 Pin I think....I havent honestly counted. Theyre the big black connectors. And the one my truck came with is the little, maybe an inch diameter across plug...Any Ideas Guys?

is the trailer hooked up when testing the controller. I know silly question but I am looking for a starting point.

I would put a 7 round in you can get a 7 to 5 flat adapter for cheap and you should cover most trailers

Some need to be hitched to properly ground, some just need to be plugged in, with no trailer connected the teknosha will do nothing. I install trailer brakes, as well hitches, amber light conversions (for import trucks) and I also repair RVs. Also if you want a seven pin just get the pre wired one (like $35-$65 mot RV places stock them, The dealer has it to but like $100) it just plugs into the harness under your truck (it will come with instructions). Good luck
