Loud Air Sound
My 2000 f250 started making this loud noise, it sounds like air coming out of something with pressure behind it, only does it when im driving and it sounds like its coming from behind the speedometer area. when i let off the fuel pedal or give it a little more fuel it stops for a second. Does anyone know what this could be ? Thanks for any help

I'll say it's your exhaust back pressure valve. What has the outside temperature been lately ?

Does it happen only when the engine is cold?

yes, that is the only time i have noticed it. But even when i drive it from cold start to when it warms up it does it a little bit.

Might want to get a more experienced guy to confirm this but my truck does it to. Its the EBPV, a flap in the exhaust that helps your engine warm up. Mine stays on for about half a block maybe 1 full block normally and makes a loud whooaaaaaaaa air rushing sound. I believe its normal as long as it goes away within a few minutes, like mine does.

Yea mine makes a loud air noise as well when its cold and I first drive. It goes away after a couple of blocks for me. I assumed it was normal.
