So about a month and a half ago I went to start my truck and all the lights came on and everything but the truck did nothing when trying to start. I took of the batteries and the starter and they checked out and It ended up being that I just took the shifter and when from park to drive back to park and it started. Drove it last night stoped at a friends house and came back out and it stated to turn over for a split second then nothing and after that nothing. Had it towed home and that is where I am at. Can the transmition position sensor just go out like that? Where is it located? Is it hard to replace? Any other ideas on what it might be? It is our only means of transportation besideds our bikes so any help would be great.
(edit) Can the batteries go from having enough power to start to not even turing the starter over, or should I have had trouble starting it before it just wouldnt do anything? (edit) I put the truck into reverse the the reverse lights do come on. Last edited by FLRobert; 03-03-2011 at 02:14 AM. |

Yes batteries can be bad. Put a load test on them however I don't think that is your problem try to start in neutral like instructor said

I tried that and it did not work. I found the problem seas the source wire to.the.solinoid from the.key switch had a tiny whole tubes in the insulation grounding it to the starter 3 inches of electrical tape and I'm good to go
