Exclamation Battery light has come on

2000 f-250. When I started driving today I knowticed that my battery light was on, it didnt have any trouble starting and volt meter read normal, but the light never shut off. What's going on here, what should I check, is something going out or out?

battery light usually means altenator. Because the dual battery setup one could be bad but read good. disconnect both batteries and give them a charge see how they read. next step is take off the altenator to have it tested dont do the autozone engine running test they only show really big drain/power loss.

Battery light usually means altenator. Because of the dual battery setup you have to disconnect both batteries, charge them then test them if they read good then test the altenator. Take the altenator off and have it tested. stay with stock batteries and altenator (motocraft) I had the same problem 3yrs ago, both batteries and altenator. It ran fine for three days with the light on no problems but just one day died out. the bad altenator ruined the batteries. I hope you caught it early enough to save the batteries. Good luck.
