rough idle / sluggish take off

2003 350 2wd 7.3 190k
just installed new plugs wire harness and injectors from Pensacola diesel.. soon as the shop started the truck after all the install it ran like crap. called Pensacola back they said drive it for 30 miles to set the injectors in. drove it 1000 miles still has rough idle and seems to hesitate on take off then it kicks in.. they sent me Number 8 injector and i had to pay labor again $255 to replace on injector which im not happy about. only had two down and decided to replace all so i would not need to re open the motor. well the new replaced # 8 is in and still has rough Idle and sluggish take off.. new fuel filter and pump and amsoil changed .. any ideas
I will no longer be using penascola diesel... if they build the injector they should also cover labor especially if it failed with on 10 minuted of the restart...

Have you uninstalled the edge and reinstalled it? If not you may try it. sometimes they can get a glitch and need to be reinstalled all over.

Instructor, thanks for getting back to my post..
Yes i have returned it to stock and ran it for a day or two and still has the problem. Im just taken back.. im to the point that im thinking i will take injectors out and send them all back to Pensacola Diesel and buy new out of the box and for the third time pay labor.. Im grasping onto hope that when Pensacola gets the injector in they see a problem with it and call me back....

Did it hesitate before taking it to the shop the first time? if so is it the same problem or close? I would say they ran a injector cut out test before installing injectors to determine if 8 was bad or showed to be bad. The foot feet is electronic, it is a variable resistor (rheostat) that controls the amount of current that gets to the ECM (PCM). Determined by the amount of current the ECM in turn tells the injectors how much fuel. The foot feet also controls the idle. The resistors on the idle end may be burned. Once you push the foot feet past the bad spots the truck generally will run smooth until it comes back to the resting position. Two ways to check; Disconect the foot feet harness at the floor and take an ohm reading Red to one pin of foot feet plug and black to the other pin of foot feet plug. While holding the two in place read the meter and then slowly move the foot feet through to high accelleration. From beginning to end the foot feet ohms of resistance should steadily change. Depending on you truck the resistance may start very low and gradually move higher. If you find one spot where the meter does not read and meter goes blank that means the contacts are burned in the area. In you case you are looking for a blank meter reading close to the idle position and beginning acceleration, if you notice this then i would look at a new foot feet (treadle). The other way is to hook it up on a quality scann tool (genysis ect...) and read the output of your footfeet. Either way you can troubleshoot this area. Just a thought, can not say for sure that this is what it is but worth a try.

Yes its a new problem after injectors were installed.. I had two injectors fail according to the scanner so i had the mechanic replace all 8 at the same time and all glow plugs. figured it would save money down the road...i will show my mech your suggestion and see what he thinks thanks again...

well the good gets better... another Injector has failed #5 not working.. I called Pensacola diesel and they said the #8 that i sent back was full of carbon.. how can it be plugged with carbon when it was only in the truck 1000 miles.??? someone help .. so long story short is as follows.... paid labor last week to replace one injector and now we will have all eight removed and sent back to pensacola diesel. they will give me $1000 credit and charge me about 650 for 8 more brand new alliant brand and paying for the third time in less then two months labor again...hard lesson to learn at $4000......
Instructor..... checked the pedal and its all withing the working parameters.. maybe with factory new injectors it will run smoother....
