4x4 trans in 4x2 truck
I've got a '99 F-250 4x2 that has trans problem going into its forward gears so I figure it's time for a rebuild or a new trans. I've located a 4x4 4r100 that was just rebuilt. What mods or additional parts would be needed to put a 4wd transmission into my 2wd truck?
Somewhere down the line may continue with the 4wd conversion and get everything else together but the tranny is priority right now. |

If your just gonna use it for 2WD purposes, I don't think you need anything.

Would a different driveshaft be required?

Ya know, I don't know. Probably a shorter one actually.

The rear of the transmission is different for the transfer case mount, not sure if you can swap that portion or not.

the 4x4 trans is shorter since the tcase goes where the 2wd tail end would be normally.
you need a tail end or get the tcase with it and use it as a 2wd. and you will get low if you do for towing lol. or swap the tail ends. but you are better off getting another trans that matched. |
