FUEL PROBLEM OR WHAT??????

well i will try and describe this the best i can and hope for some guidance lol. my 7.3 now on 2 seperate occasions when i have started it up and went up the road about 1 - 1.25 miles it started backing up and i mashed the pedal more and more it slowed more and more. then it wouldn't pull its self and i pulled over to the side of the road and it would turn about 1k rpm on the rug then smothered out and die. hit the key to start it and it would turn over and over. go through that process about 4-6 times and then it would start and blow alot of white smoke out then clear up and be fine.

like i said it has happened 2 ti,es now and i was just wondering what is causing this or where i need to be looking at? any help here would be greatly appreciated THANKS!!

I have a 02 7.3 with almost the same problem, I have parked the truck for 2 years due to the economy and this problem. I would like to get it back on the road. My problem is when the outside temperature gets below 40* and I don’t plug the truck in it is very hard to start. Once is dose start I let it warm-up for 10 min and then start down the road. It will make it 1/4 mile and die. I can cycle the glow plugs twice then crank it in 30 sec. intervals for 4-5 times and it will then start, I then have to hold the accelerator to the floor until the white smoke stops coming from the exhaust. While holding the accelerator down the rpm don’t increase above 1200. Once I go thru this each morning the truck runs fine the rest of the day. If the block heater has been plug in it will start and run fine all day.
The truck has 130,000 miles; it is stock, the oil has been changed at 4000 to 5000 miles intervals since the truck was new. Fuel and air filters at 15000. 2 years before parking it and while on vacation the side of the oil filter split and I had it towed to ford they replaced the filter and the HPOP (I don’t know why the hpop was replaced or how it would have anything to do with the filter splitting) In the month just before parking it I had the codes read it showed low voltage to the injectors, I had the cps replaced twice and the fuel, oil and air filters changed. The mechanic told me that there had to be a bad injector but he would have to change them all at the same time. And if that didn’t work I would then need a HPOP. Not wanting to just through $$$ and parts at it, I parked it.
I am sorry for the long explanation but I would like to get this back on the roar and wanted to try to get most of the info in this post. I have rebuilt small block gassers before i can use a wrench and a volt meter but have never got that involved in diesel motors before. If I can find the info I would like to find out what is wrong with this truck and try to get it repaired. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

mine and yours is alike in the way that when mine dies or smothers out it will grind and grind and grind then after about 4-5 tries or so it will hit off and start trying to clear up then when it does its fine. it has only done it twice but it don't have to be plugged up it will start without that but, when you start up the road a piece it has died out and not want to start right back. done this act 2 times now... idk thought i'd ask and see if any of the wise here had any info on helping me cure it lol.

Not sure if you boyz got this stuff figured out but my 05 6.0 did the same thing but progressively got worse. Ended up being some kind of o-rings for the injector pump. Not sure if its the same, just throwing it out there....
