Oil Cooler Rebuild Advice
So, this is going to be short and sweet...
I replaced my water pump and rebuilt my oil cooler on Monday and I learned a few things that I thought might be helpful to someone out there.
1) If you're going to reuse your thermostat housing, buy the OEM thermostat. I couldn't get an aftermarket one to seal the waterneck, but the OEM had no problems.
2) (And this is the biggie) When you press your oil cooler back together, be careful. A shop press will crack the end caps if you're not, and it will cost you $217 from International (oil filter end cracked) plus the $70 to buy orings and gaskets to pull the oil cooler apart again. Your wife will be angry, and you will feel stupid for not being more careful.
I think that is all I had...
