Sticky Auto 4WD Hub
I recently read that you can lube the automatic locking hubs for the shift on the fly hubs which can either be in Auto or Lock mode. The driver side hub is very hard to turn to the engage position and I wanted to know if there is a way to clean and lube it to help it turn. Also, I have never gotten the auto hubs to work when we switch the dash board control knob to 4wd. I understand these auto hubs work on a vacuum and occassionaly there is a problem with the vacuum causing these hubs not to engage. Does anyone have any advice to lub these hubs and ways I can check them to see why they don't engage in the Auto mode.
Thanks, |

Thanks for the help. I have gained so much great info from this forum I can't thank everyone enough. The instructions on the link seem pretty good so hopefully I will try the repairs soon. The auto lock 4WD has never work, just the manually so I will start first with the lube of the hub which is very hard to turn and go from there.

The auto lock not working could be because that hub is tight but also is probably due to a vacuum leak because of the outer seal on the hub
