Runs but stumbles when Upfitter #1 is turned on (video)
I've got a 2002 F250 PSD, details in sig. I had my HPOP o-ring go out on me and the truck dumped all its oil. I was getting ready to leave town, so I had the truck towed to a dealer and repaired the next day. After picking my truck up, I hit the road. I have Upfitter Switch #1 hooked up to 2 Hella 500's and 2 Hella 700's on the front of my truck. As I was driving at night, with the automatic headlights on, I switched #1 on to see more of the road, as is very common for me to do. When I turned the #1 switch off, however, the engine stumbled, turned cruise off, and illuminated the CEL, WTS, and water-in-fuel lights.
Part 2: My truck won't start when it is cold. The GPR is bad, this is the 2nd one I've put in this truck (#1 in Dec 2008). My worry is that the 2 things are related, since the issues both started after getting the truck back from the dealer. I don't want to put the new GPR in the truck until I get the upfitter/light issue squared away. Thoughts? *EDIT* I have a scanner, there are no codes that are stored, none being thrown as this is occurring. Last edited by delorean623; 11-09-2010 at 05:02 PM. Reason: add info |

sounds like you got a short somewhere for sure.

Oh ya thats gotta be a short. Thats really funny though lol.
As far as the gpr, did you put a stancor unit it? Those things are tough and last forever. |

Check under the hood near your HPOP to see if there are any wires not connected (like grounds). Unconnected grounds can cause strange things.

Thats a ground issue to one of your lights... dead short.

I'm in the process of ripping out all wiring going to the lights and just plain re-doing from start. I have no idea where the short is, but it has to be with those lights.
As far as the GPR goes, I think it was just a coincidence that the 2 issues happened at the same time. I received my Stancor GPR yesterday and the truck fires up like a champ now. |

It was a light wiring issue, installing new wiring from the switch back, replacing everything except the switch and the lights fixed the problem. I still have no idea what the exact cause was, though.
