Whooshing noise from exhaust
I get this whooshing noise from the exhaust when cold, it does it about every five to ten seconds, It also idles rough once in a while, no check engine light, is this normal? This is my first power stroke. Also this is a 2000 7.3. Thanks for any help you can offer. Also I did use the search first but could not find my same issue.
Thanks Bob |

yes this is normal. Basically is a part closing to warm the truck up, but I can't think of the name since your asking.....lol.

Its the EBPV (exhause back pressure valve). It activates when ambient temp is below 40F and oil temperature is below a certain temperature (not sure how cold).
You can read all about cold operation of the 7.3 HERE |
