2000 7.3 starts and dies

I am new to this Forum. It looks like the Torino forum I use.
My 7.3 will start and then shut right off. To get it to run I have to step on the throttle about 1/2 way as I crank it. It runs and idles fine after that but I don't like to push the RPMS so hi on start-up.
Any ideas what I should check???

it would best if you could scan the computer first. But, if you don't mind tossing a little cash at an unknown problem, think about swapping out the CPS. they are fairly cheap and you can save the take-off for a spare. you will likely need it some day anyway!
