Oil Pressure and Cyl. 3 Problems
I am new to this forum. Thanks to all of you who have previously provided me with great insight.
My 2000 7.3 (240000 mi.) recently started burning 1 gallon of oil for every tank of fuel. There are no significant external leaks. I have noticed some power loss while pulling, but the truck still runs very well. It starts right up and idles just fine. I recently ran the diagnostics and came up with the following codes: P1209 - Injector pressure system malfunction P1211 - Injector control pressure higher or lower than desired P0303 - Cylinder 3 Misfire detected P0673 - Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Circuit It passed the injector buzz test. Cylinder contribution test showed balance malfunction on cylinders 3 and 8. KOER self test showed Exhaust Pressure control valve performance issues. I checked the turbo fins. They show signs of light to moderate dusting. Some smoke comes out the oil fill cap while running, but it is not enough to push the cap of when placed up-side-down. I think the dusting may just be due to the age of the engine. Could the majority of these codes be a result of bad injector seals/gaskets? My intention is to replace the injector seals and glowplugs while I'm in there. I may also rebuild the turbo while I'm at it. Should I plan to replace the ICP and/or IPR? My fear is that the problem may be bigger, like a cracked ring or messed up valve. Thanks! |
