99 F250 died all of the sudden
I cranked it up after being out of town 3 days, let it warm up and got 1/4 down the road and she died. It did crank up one more time but died again. My brother towed it back to his house. While he was buying a tow rope the guy asked what happened and said it more than likely is the camshaft sensor. He also said it is pretty common. I will bring my scanner over tomorrow and see what it says. Does this sound like the problem? Truck ran fine up till this point. It has the 7.3 turbo 236k.

Thanks, I will bring my hand held back tomorrow and see what it says. Just drove/sat in a car for 7 hours not excited about working on this tonight.

I have been warned to keep a spare in the glovebox along with a 10mm and 1/4 drive ratchet. Mine was repalced by Ford on the recall and I just replaced another. Beginning to wonder if there isn't something else that is causing the cam sensor to go bad

It is a recall and FORD will replace it for free. Just make sure to mention you are specifically taking it for the recall so that they do not try pulling a fast one on you.

I believe they will replace it once under the recall. Mine had been done. |

only once, and only if its a ford black one. If its never been recalled yet but you put in a newer style or color, they wont put one in.

Well I Had Replaced Mine, Then Later Found Out That there was a recall on the CPS and they replaced it when i had the one from checkers in, cause it was still surging when driving in the rain, and only when the SES light came on

I think I may be having a similar problem. This truck is still new to me I got it back in June 2010 it only has 91k miles. It has been great until yesterday when the SES light lit and it didn't drive 20ft and then shut off. It did start back up enough to get it back in a parking spot but that's it.
This may be a stupid question but I have never owned a vehicle young enough to have useful recalls or had a vehicle with a computer, so how can I check to see if the recall has been done before or if its still open. This is all new to me, not that it will help because there is no Ford dealer in Statesboro, GA. If I left anything out let me know, not like I will be going anywhere. Truck doesn't run and I just moved here a month ago. |
