How do I change a wheel bearing?

Hi guys I have a bad wheel bearing on the driver side. I've been told you need to buy the 500.00 knuckle assembly to do it. Is that right or can I buy the bearing? Any tips for the job? Thanks in advance, Eric.

YOU should be able to get the bearing assembly. i did mine bout 5-6 years ago. you can't just change the bearing you have to buy the bearing assembly. it was bout $250 range if i recall correctly. But that was 5-6 years ago. it wasn't a hard job because you are not pressing bearings out or in.

Is this a 4wd?

If so, you do only need to buy the bearing assembly as stated above. We, unfortunately, don't have maintainable bearings ... the front wheel bearings are non-maintenance unitized.

It is not a difficult job at all ... you remove the wheel, 4x4 hub, unmount and hang the brake caliper, remove the brake rotor, unplug some ABS connections, unbolt the bearing assembly from the steering knuckle, and then reverse the process. I did both in a few hours with an overhaul to the 4x4 hub and a brake job ... it was all, of course, very simple stuff.
