Hmmm Alternator or Starter?
I started having some problems with my truck starting. I would have to jump it with 2 vehicles to get it started. Eventually I bought 2 Duralast Gold batteries. This was about a month ago when I got the batteries. It started better at first but still seemed to turn over very slowly. After a week or 2 the starts were pretty hard again and last night it barely turned over enough to get it started.
I did a volt check and it was 12.4v before starting, it dropped down into the 9volt range and once started and running it was in the mid 13volt range and was slowly climbing. So obviously it shows a charge. Now is that charge enough? Or is the starter getting old and drawing too much voltage and needs to be replaced? Any other ideas on how to test them would greatly help...Thanks. Also I don't think I have anything draining on the battery because even if it sits for just 20 minutes, it still struggles to turn over. |
