Low BOOST HOW much and When on a 2001 7.3 Stroker

OK....here's my tale of WOE...2001 supercab shortbed 4wd 7.3 powerstroke auto tranny 3.73 gears in the rear end.



I had leaking up-pipes and replaced them with international harvester kit everything is good there .....



Removed and cleaned boost tubes and boots and know there are no leaks there .....



wastegate seems to be hitting metal to metal when closed seating ok from what I can tell maybe I need to adjust wastegate linkage length to stiffen it up maybe its blowing open a lil bit under low to midrage rpm bleeding off boost .....



eveything else seems good I have done the napa filter install and the muffler delete with no cat on the rest of the system



So I have a good transport for he drive side of turbo and compressor side no leaks unless wastegate is blowing by or maybe EGBV is maybe obstructing flow ??? I have guages that read boost at 16 psi at 3000 rpm and never get much above 850-950 wot ...





what gives here I cleaned the EBPs tube and replace sensor last night



I felt maybe a lil diffrence this am but my low to midrange power/torque still doesn't feel as peppy as it once was help help help



I am taking it to a diesel shop tommorow after work for a mechanic to test drive ...I'm hoping to fix this myself if I can times are lil bit tight and I just shelled out 500.00 for up pipe kit and 200 for guages

Disconnect the red line from the waste gate actuator and see if your boost comes back up to normal. May need a new waste gate actuator.

no i get about the same boost levels +/- 1

seems about normal for a stock tuned truck.... throw a chip in there and it will get higher than that

15? i ithought 18-20 is normal for a stock 7.3

16psi is about normal.. my Ex is currently stock and i barely see 16-18psi

ok i had others telling me in another thread i should be making 18-20 since its a E99

I'm running a E99 with the stock turbo and I'm maxing out at 23-24 and pulling a trailor, going up hill without maxing out the rpms I get about 16

thats seems really high for a stock truck, normally i only see 15-16psi and around 18, pulling hills
