My Business Partner just got a new Dodge Ram 4x4 Crew Cab Delivered from the U.S.

OH yea, it is nice... I would not bother, I do not think, as it took him 18 months forward ordered to get it delivered to Australia and converted to Right Hand Drive. But that Cummins sounds nice... What do ya think, they beat a Ford PSD? What about chipped up PSD, with SuperChips to Level III, can I smoke him?

I don't think I would go the expense and wait to get the Cummins myself, when Ford has active Dealers and Parts and Supply backup all over Oz, and half the country has not even heard of a Dodge... But he gets a lot of looks, specially with his big chrome letters "BIG HORN EDITION" on the sides.. Which means two pairs of socks in the pants in Oz... Gets some laughs...

Anyway, in a drag, who wins? Is the Cummins out front normally stock? He is talking 340 HP chip on his, is that right? Can't believe it... but...

My "lil farm twuck" Ford looks tougher anyways, and sits higher, and sounds better!
Best Regards, the Ranger in Oz...

Hey Ranger well I ran my buddy in his stock 03 cummins ram and tortured him all over the road in my superchipped 7.3. He put a few chips on his and outruns me now. I think your buddy is blowing smoke on a 340 hp chip. I've never heard of a chip alone providing that much horsepower. Even if it did he'd have to modify just about everything else in the drivetrain to actually make it effective. Talking a much larger turbo or a twin/staged turbo setup, injectors maybe, definitely tranny upgrade, lift pump ...FASS fuel system something.....there's a company called TST that markets a high powered box, it's like 190 horse and 580 lb ft of torque with some slight mods..

Hey Smokin 73, now I am not argueing, I am asking, but he just showed me on the Dodge Site where stock it is 325 HP and 610 something ft lbs of torque for his 2006... Is that real? How can it be? Am I missing something?

Hard to believe cause the Cummins looks "Lots of room" in the engine bay.. Ha! Anyways, is he looking at something wrong on the Dodge site and speckies?

One more thing really disgusting, he took a trip down to another State to the wine country, in New South Wales, to break it in.... Averaged 20 miles per gallon?? I am gonna puke...

I am gonna have to Chip up, bore out, hone clean, open up, something drastic cause I think a Duel in coming..... And I don't wanna lose.. Ha!

Best Regards from the Ranger...

Nope those numbers are correct. If you wanna race try leaving the line in 4wheel drive, First put it into 4x4 then stand on the bake then push the gas to build boost. Hold on cus when you let off the brake youre gonna shoot off the line. Just dont tell him you left in 4wheel drive

OK, so are you saying that the SuperChips MicroTuner on Level III, and no other mods will be a 2006 Dodge Ram with 340 HP? Does not seem possible, what have I got to do, to smoke him? Another chip? Bigger injectors? What do you think....

Regards LR

Well thank you for the advice, but I do not understand all of it... What 6pos Chip are you speaking of? I want diagnostics that is why I bought the Superchips tuner.. May keep it for diagnostics out Bush in the Outback of Oz if the six position does not have it... And some people are talking about a shift on the fly 6 position chip...??? Is that what you are speaking of?

And hate to sound stupid here in Australia, but what is a bb turbo..? Do you mean BANKS? I have a 2003 like you, so is that an advantage ??? I can order anything from the US and have it airmailed, just don't know WHAT to order...

Thank you in advance for your help... And I love the twin stacks smokin it! Can't see how to add stacks on mine, but thinking... I have a F-250 4x4 03 with the short bed, kind of hard to fit stacks..

sorry for the confusion.. 6 pos chip you can adjust on the fly..there nice because you dont have to stop and reprogram it. no you can not diagnostic with a chip.. im running a dps 6pos it works very well..its good for up to 140ish and i had stage 1 injectors worth about 50 more hp in my 03 and bb means ball bearing which spools up faster and is a more durable.. and sound sweet....... hope this is more help

Yeah the newer 06 rams are faster than what my buddy's 03 was stock, but i'm not sure by how much. I would think that at the least you'd be even...keep this in mind, if you do beat him in his "still stock" rig, all he has to do is put a chip on and he's going to walk on you all day. You'll have to start looking at a more extreme chip and some other mods.....

As to your reference on all the room in the dodge engine bay, it's just the 5.9 inline 6 that enables it to take up so little room versus our bigger, wider V8's.

A bb turbo is a ball-bearing turbo. I've been told what the benefit of a bb turbo is before, but I have since forgotten.

The 6 pos chip he's speaking of might be something like the banks 6 gun, or more likely the TS 6 position that i'm running in my truck. It's adjustable in-cab, and offers quite a bit more horsepower than the superchip. And on the max 140hp setting it'll blow smoke happily at low rpm's. It won't read codes, but just keep your superchips handheld tuner for reading any codes.

Well thanks for all the info guys... Now two questions, where do you shop for this gear like a BB Turbo and TS 6 pos Chip.... ? I suppose I can run a poll to determine which of the gear is the best...

And is the PSD such a strong engine that this extreme for fun is not going to kill it? Or are we talking half of the engine life.. What do you think?

Best regards from the soon to be MONSTER truck in Australia.. Ha!
