Hi there, I just went with the dual oil filter set up from Amsoil,(I don't sell it or endorse it yet), but they have a neat dual oil filter set up I just installed supposed to be able to change oil every 25,000 miles. I have 01 7.3 and same thing don't what or who did anything to truck. Royal Purple is very neat stuff I have it in my son's Jeep transfer case and seems nice...

Read any magazine test article that includes Royal Purple and take note of how far down they are on the list. Great advertising, but not such great oil. The best thing you could do for your truck is look real close at AMSOIL. They sell the highest quality synthetic lubricants anywhere for any type of vehicle. 5W-30 or 15W-40 Diesel Oil for the engine along with Amsoil EaO filter, the best in the world, oil and filter good for 25,000 miles. Look at the by-pass filtration systems too, really good thing to do. Amsoil ATF in the tranny and transfer case, no other fluid on the market handles heat like Amsoil does. Yes, find a good trans shop to change out the complete tranny fluid, 17 quarts, changing just the 7 in the pan won't do any good. You could do it yourself if your torque converter has a drain plug, some do, some don't. If not you can still do it yourself with a compressor and the know how, recontact if you want to try it. A larger trans pan is a good idea if you are going to tow also. The diffs don't have drain plugs. You do have to pull the cover. Don't damage it, they are glued on tight with a special/strong silicone from Loctite. Be very careful. Again, a big cover is a good idea if you plan to tow. Mag-hytec is the biggest. Use Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-140in the rear at least or in both, nothing will protect better. You can use 75W-90 or the new 75W-110 in the front if you want to save money, but you will only save a few bucks. A lot of the NASCAR teams use Amsoil in their diffs now. 98% of the vehicles with Limited-slip don't need any additive in the diff when they use Severe Gear, but they sell one if you do need it. Trans and diff fluids are both good for 100,000 miles. Take a look at EVANS Waterless Engine Coolants for the coolant, lasts a lifetime.
