Starting troubles

I have a 2000 F-250 Power stroke diesel. engine cranks but wont start. The wait light comes on and goes of after a minute. we changed fuel filter, cleaned out canister bowl, engine started and ran for 20 minutes and then shut off and will not start again. Any ideas on how to fix? what to check?

Hmm yeah check the cheap stuff first. See if you can get your truck scanned for any codes. Is your fuel pump running when you turn the key on. Check your glow plug relay should have 12 volts coming in and 12 going out on the two large posts. Check all your fuses. Could be a cps also. Make sure your batteries are fully charged also your pcm needs 10.5 volts for your truck to start. Hope this helps.

If you had the truck running, and it shut down on it's own, I would be thinking more along the lines of the CPS. Low batteries will make it a no start, or a difficult start, but wont make it shut down on it's own unless the alt. is not giving a charge. And the GPR is the same, If it starts, it will not shut it down. So I am thinking CPS.

Gord.
