Ignition problem

Long story short, I got in my truck to move it, turned on the ignition, realized I forgot something in the house, turned the key back to take it out and now the key spins freely. The ignition is stuck on. Anyone have this problem before? If so, how did you fix it?

It doesn't spin all the way around, just spins freely between "start" and "accessory" while the key is in it. Won't spin with the key out

Do you know how big of a PITA it is to change? I took the bottom cover off the column but still don't understand how to get it out...
