strange noise when steering...braking

Hey guys.. I have an 02 F250 Crew Cab 4x4 7.3.... my truck is making a strange growling noise (from the engine compartment) when I apply the breaks and really makes it when I turn the wheel sitting still. It is almost as if my power steering isnt working at all sometimes... the wheel can be hard to turn at times while sitting still. I checked all the fluids and all are filled properly. The truck makes it also when it is idling... seems to get better when I rev up the engine. Any ideas??? Any suggestions would be great!

Replace powersteering pump with new one. It is not hard to do, but you will need to drain the coolant level a little bit as the upper radiator hose needs to be removed in order to do the job.
