Flashing OD off switch???

Not sure what sensor??..I checked the gear shift wire in the column..not it changed that about a year ago and thought maybe it wore through again...Is it the one in the rear end?....It's happening intermitently @ the moment...when it starts flashing and I come to a stop and then take off it feels like the tranny is slipping put it in park and the idle comes up on it turn the truck off and it seems you lose all power...Those are the symptoms when flashing...Im sure one of the techs here knows exactly what it is!..Thanks.

HELP!

Are you sure?? I've heard of this problem from a lot of people and I mine is still coming on intermittently. Mine has been coming on for years with no tranny problems . . . I've read on here that it is one of the sensors but never tracked it down.

Yup you have either something going on in your trans or your rear speed sensor is shot. One of those two. Take it to a trans shop and have them scan it for codes. There will be some stored

I didn't necessarily mean its something serious.

Where is the rear speed sensor located?? I saw a sensor on top of the front of the rear diff and figured since I have rear abs only that was it. I upgraded my tranny with a bd diesel torque converter, new flexplate, accumulator body, filter and external filter. Also took out stock cooler up front and added a derale cooler w/fan and 180 degree thermostat a few years ago. I haven't had any tranny problems but light flashes intermittently causing no issues and o/d switch still works while light is flashing you just can't tell whether it's on or off.

Could this light flashing have anything to do with my recent power loss, rough idle and missing 1 and 8 cylinders?? lol . . . I wish . . . I am hoping it is just my ICP sensor . . . going to pick one up tomorrow!

thanks guys for the responses..I think it may be that speed sensor it went bad about 3 years ago and the truck did the same thing or very similiar symptoms @ the least....I know when it is acting up and you turn the ignition off all power is dead to even start the truck although you can hear something in the dash ticking like your hazard lights even though the ignition is off...I guess @ the very least the speed sensor is an easy fix to try first before taking to the shop. Shoot the tranny in it now only has around 60k on it.

There is also a trans temp sensor that will throw a code. Is your trans temp gauge normal? The happened to my dads 6oh twice in 170,000
