The magic word here is RAMSMOKER hahaha, he has developed a system to remove the air from the fuel system without doing the reg. return system. Just check out his garage, he has some pics of it there.

Gord.

So pretty much all 7.3 PSDs and the older NA have cackle? You can't really hear it unless you actually take a second to listen for it. At certain angles you can really hear it more than anything else, I guess because of echo - precisely at drivers side looking at the fender a few feet away before I had to go and hit the hood release.

I imagine if you took your truck to a Ford garage and they looked under your hood and saw the Regulated Return system they'd freak out and tell you how wrong it is.

I think the Regulated return system is going to be on my mod list sometime before next winter. I don't even know how much it costs?

Made another short movie if anyone is still curious and if you can distinguish sounds, quality isn't perfect;

Lightbulb

i think you can find the reg. return for around 400-450 bucks, If ITP has discontinued it I know that other Powerstroke sites sell it. Check around first. Diesel Innovations - Products

If you do this mod it is also recommended that you replace the number 8 long lead injector back to the standard AD code (if you have stock injectors like me).

I have also heard that the hutch/harpoon in tank mods also help remove air from the fuel. I think I am going to try those first and then also try Ramsmokers mod he built along with a inline filter and pusher pump. Ill probably just replace the stock tank pick up with one of these http://www.itpdiesel.com/other/FuelS...structions.pdf and run new bigger fuel supply lines into a pre pump filter and the Ramsmoker's mod http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/vbp...?do=view&g=255 and a pusher pump.

Just another stupid idea..... If we could get enough guys together that want to buy the Regulated Return kit I am sure that we could talk the guy from ITP to hook us up at a discount. I know I would be interested and have seen others show interest in this kit. We could get our own little "group buy".

Sorry bout all of the links.....

My truck definitely has the cackle-scared the hell outta me at first because I thought it was a rod or something! After listening to other descriptions of it and the video I know that it's gotta be the injector. Question is-is it harmful or just annoying?

It won't harm anything, it's just annoying. There is no real "Ford" fix according to what I read, I guess they tell everyone to deal with it.

That's why some of the vendors came up with the fuel return system. I'll probably invest in a return system in a few months, mod day Martin? Maybe we could do a system on both our trucks.

maybe we could get together and buy enough kits and get an awesome discount. I think we could find 10 guys or so who would be interested in this.

Yeah, I forgot to respond to you about that. I'd love a discount.

I used to worry about the noise the F250 gave off, especially when cold. All three make different noises and they kind of make music when all running together!

People say when you really get the cackle and idle knock issue your power goes down as does your fuel mileage.

In a lot of noise out of the F250 over 235K miles my fuel mileage has always been the same.
