i'm having the exact same problem 220,000 miles on 2000 7.3 replaced all GPS and GPR, fuel filter and filled the bowl with seafoam. Trucks runs great once warmed up but very hard to start in the morning then runs really rough for 10-15 mins. plugged it in over night and it starts right away. I'm thinking its got to be a sensor of some kind? New batteries starter cranks pretty fast, no major smoke when cranking...WTF!!! Please someone help us!!!

This is truly amazing. We are all on this forum to get help trouble shooting problems and sharing solutions. This is by far the worst forum I have every been a member of. I have a 7.3 with all the problems listed and have been watching this forum since fricking July trying to find an answer to this problem.

7.3 will not start.
Here is my story. Purchased a 2002 F350 extended cab dually 2wd from the auction for 1300. Connected trans cable replaced batteries and started the truck. Once it started lots of white smoke came from the tail pipe. Drove the truck 8 miles to my shop parked it. Drove the old diesel out of the truck went to a truck stop put 26 gallons of diesel in the truck, changed the oil, fuel filter and starter.
Drove the truck 100 miles with a trailer, smoke cleared park the truck over night and the next morning, it would not start. Waited 3 hours started the truck drove it home without problems. Parked the truck started it an hour later, drove it ½ mile and it died. Towed truck to shop started truck, let idle for 1 hour and truck die again. Truck would not start again. Scan code, code indicated Cam sensor so I replaced it. Truck still would not start. Purchased another motor for 800 buck to place it the truck but before I go, I wanted to figure out the problem so. I pull the valve cover, check all connection with voltmeter and all was well. Then I decided to pull all the injectors two had been replaced. Up on doing so, I noticed the left side seemed to have fuel but the right side did not have as much fuel. Afterward, I pulled the eight injector from the spare motor for inspection; low and behold they looked like the left side on the motor in the truck. Now I’m going to take all 16 injector to a diesel injection specialist. http://www.dieseinjection.com . The goal is to find 8 good one then we will stop testing. Cost to test the injectors is 29.00 per injector. After testing the Injector, we will replace the o-ring and install. Then will replace some fuel line and my problem will go away. Only to be left with a spare motor and 8 additional injector that will go on eBay so can get all my money back.

Injectors, Injectors, Injectors and Injectors. 7 out of 8 injector were bad. Ordered replacements today. Will have an extra motor for sale pretty soon.

Try running a gallon of Power Service injector cleaner thru it first. You can buy it at any truck stop for $20.00 a gallon or buy it a Wal-Mart for $10.00. It's one of the few things I will buy at Wal-Mart. Mine will start running rough over time and I pour a gallon thru it and it cleans the injectors right up. I have been doing this for ten years and my injectors still look and sound new. 200,000 miles and no problems (except when I got algae in my tank and the glow plug relay, but that's another story).
