Water In fuel
My water in fuel light came on about a week ago very sporadically. I opened the drain valve and quite a bit of water came out. I of course closed it again and drove home. The truck sat for about a week and then I was driving not 15 minutes on friday and the light came on. I again drained it and the same volume came out.
I regularly change the fuel filter.....what is going on? All I can think of is that I refueld at a sorta sketchy city gas station about two weeks ago....any chance the diesel there had a lot of water in it? Thanks., wes |

Its possible you got a tank full of bad fuel. I would add some sort of fuel stabilizer. I add the Power Service stuff everytime I fill up. It seems to help.

Sounds like you got a bunch of water in your fuel. Probably from the last place you filled up. If your looking for a good fuel additive the Motorcraft Cetane Booster and the Motorcraft Anti-Gel Additive has proven to be a very good product. It's relatively cheap too.

water in fuel
You have picked up some fuel that had a lot of water in it. Thats what happens buying cheap fuel at out of the way places plus never know what other stuff is growing in it. I only buy at known places that have a high diesel turn over such as truck stops etc. Have to admit tho got water at a Flying J in MO once tho. You will probably have to put a water additive in and also change your filter. I use a additive for lube/centane boost/cleaner which is available at Walmarts in addition to many other places. It comes in summer/winter versions and one container will treat 250 gallon diesel fuel
