01 F250 No Start
Sorry about the length but I hate when people post problems and just say "It doant start! Whuts rong wit it?"
Cliff notes: Turn key, lights go out like dead batt, buzzing/clicking noise under dash, cycle headlights, noise goes away, truck starts. Read ahead at your own risk. Contents may cause drowsiness, do not operate heavy machinery, or light for that matter.
01 F250 7.3, Auto, Walker BTM, DIY Tymar, no chip, all stock, 220,000, no gages.
I was looking at a new 09 F250 yesterday and had the dealer look at my pickup to give a trade value. They said "$2000." I said "Oh, HE!! no!" and left.
This morning she starts fine, I go to the drive thru, shut her off, place my order, go to restart and the dash lights shut off like a dead batt or dirty batt terminals. I push it out the way and go in to get my food. I come out two minutes later and hear a clicking noise coming from the fuse block in the cab. Sounds like a turn signal. It is the relay in the upper left corner so I turn on the hazard switch, turn it off and the clicking noise goes away and the truck starts fine. Now that I think about it, I also tried turning on the headlights and turning them off.
I get to the store, do some stuff for about an hour, get in the truck to get a paper, starts fine. Drive across the parking lot, turn it off, take about 5 min to get the paper, get in the truck, put the key in and turn the ign and nothing, no lights no anything. I turn on the hazard switch, turn it off, and now the clicking/buzzing noise seems to be coming from behind the radio. I turn the headlights on and off, the noise goes away and she starts like normal. Drive straight home and park it.
While running and driving, no problems, all dash gages regester normal.
I'm getting ready to unhook the batts for a while and put my load tester on them to check them but am wondering about the various buzzing and clicking noises and whether the dealer could have done anything so fast to "convince" me the truck is only worth 2K.
For the record, I love my truck but I need/would like 4 wheel drive when pulling the 5er. Thanks for any suggestions.
