how much oil is normal in the tubing from turbo to motor ?

i had both of my tubes from the turbo off. the one going to the inter cooler had a lot of oil in it. i could tilt it and oil would run out.. the other tube coming from the inter cooler to the motor was coverd in black goo . like it has been getting coated with oil for a while... my truck does not smoke at all... also i have a pvc on the valve cover right there could it be bad and letting oil in... any idea's would be a big help.. thanks guys

well bud sounds like a junk turbo. Oil in the CAC pipeing is most likely to be comeing form the turbo shaft seals. Did you happend to check the endplay on the turbo to see what it felt like????

Sorry to disagree with you, but the powerstroke has a ccv hose going to the side of the intake boot going to the turbo, this lets oil into the air to air system. There is a mod for this to send it off to the back of the truck into a container, with a filter if you so desire. What you are seeing is a normal occurrence in the powerstroke, and unless it is excessive, it is not a problem. It can start to plug the inter cooler over a period of time.

Gord.

check to make sure that ur airfilter is clean. if it is dirty it will pull oil into the boost tubes. second check the turbo for endplay. if alot of end play, new turbo time. hopefully for ur sake it's the first.

I'm with Gord on this one. Do the ccv mod and try to get all that oil out of the IC.

Sorry to scare yah on that one i forgot about the ccv on the valve cover. If it makes you feel any better my truck used to do that until i got a nice piece of silicone hose and clamped it on and ran it down under the frame.
