Odd thing happened today....

So I took a quick trip to sonic and pulled in shut her off, got my food tried to start her and nothing happened no click, no starter nothing... This has happened to me before and after fooling with misc things it just decides to start. Tonight I held the shifter to where the indicator line on the gauge cluster was right on the P for park and it started right up? Anyone ever have this kinda problem...mods are in sig

i use to have that problem in my old 99 f250. i use to have to go under the hood and jump out this relay or whatever that was on the drivers side fender with a screwdriver and it would fire right up. finally it took a crap and would not start at all. turned out it was the idle positioning sensor.

Shifter prolly has too much play in it. so it's not all the way in park. There's 2 bolts underneath the dash that hold the bracket that connects the shifter to the cable that goes to the transmission.

They are VERY notorious for loosening themselves over time in ford vehicles.

Alright I am wondering though about that idle positioning sensor, should I get that puppy replaced or looked at or can I tell if its gonna need to be replaced somehow? Cause my pops was under the hood tapping relays when the truck started so it was either that or the shifter like I said, cause we were both doing those things when the truck fired up. But im gonna take a look into those two bolts coal thanks alot guys!

Tell him to tighten the bolts underneath the dash like i was talkin about above, an he won't have to do that anymore.

I'd try tightenin the bolts i was talkin bout first, cause that's an easy fix

Might as well rule out the easy stuff first
