Help me understand-
I have an 02 with an aftermarket cd player/radio. It had a single disc from Ford but some of the lights quit, so I swapped it out. I want to put a factory unit back in, but I dont know what newer years will plug right in. I keep finding some very nice units that look identical to the one I took out, but I have no clue what will and wont work. Is there an easy way to know before buying? What newer year units will plug in and work? Thanks for ANY info you can give.

well in my 03 it just came with the factory radio and that is it... I think... I got a 03 cd/tape player and put it in and worked fine... ( can't recall the year of radio).... but not to much of a big fan of fancy radios...

I think any year superduty radio will be plug and play Shane, but 05 and up are a double din and you will have to modify the dash cover for it to fit... 99-04 should be a direct swap

I have an '04 6 disc in dash changer in mine

Thanks for the replies. If mine originally came with the cassette/single disc player, is the slot large enough to accomodate a double din?

No you have to do some trimming for a double din. But to answer your question. Any 99-04 radio for a superduty will plug right in
