If your talking about the GEM module, its behind the fuse box in the cab. Not sure how to test it.

Edit: I Forgot, it is attached to the back of the fuse box.

GEM=Generic Electronic Module, it's fords body control module

The GEM controls a lot of things, Warning chimes, power windows, the dome light, keyless entry if you have it, ESOF 4x4, windshield wipers, can't remember what else.

Some times water leaks down from the windshield and can ruin the module, what kind of problems you having?

Heres the Skinny..

If it's cold outside
I start the truck and the warning light doesnt go on for the seat belt light.
It wont shift out of park unless I do it while I turn the key and put it in neutral.
Then the wipers dont work , the windows dont work , cruise doesn't work , and the dome light doesn't work. Then when it feels like it I see the seat belt light go on , and hear a chime , and it all works.

Ford Joe Blow price is $488
Dealer Price is $365

Only way to test is ford dealer. Any other ideas?

Sounds like it needs replaced. Only thing I can think of is remove the gem and inspect for water damage. Other than that i don't know of any way to test it.
