stock stereo won't come out... am i missing something?

2002 f350 stock 6 CD in-dash changer.

I've got the removal tools (u-shaped things). push them in the requisite amount and can feel them engage... but the darned stereo just won't pull out!

am i missing something?

thanks!

Its pretty tricky. Make sure they are pushed in ALL the way. IIRC(was several years ago) it seemed to "bottom out" and still wouldnt come out and i had to push a bit harder while finagling it in and it eventually goes down one more "notch" and then it comes out.

Make sure you try pushing the pins away from the radio as well as in towards, IIRC as well it was counter intuitive of which way you would think it would come out

Got to push the pins in to the radio or out to the doors, don't remember. Don't be afraid to man handle her a bit, it won't break on you. You'll fill it get loose

I used 4 nails and pushed them all the way in. I believe you push them towards the center of the deck and then pull out. You can also pull the whole dash bezel with radio installed and then you can pull it while looking at the back.
