I installed an aftermarket power window and door lock kit with keyless entry in my father-in-law's regular cab 2005 XL truck. It cost about $100, and was all he was willing to spend at the time. The instructions were a little vague, but with a little mechanical sense it wasn't difficult, just time-consuming to do it correctly and neatly. The power window motors are a little slow for my tastes, but he is thrilled. The kit works very well. He likes the keyless entry and power locks for opening for his wife, and the power windows are great for the arthritis in his hands. Instead of using the provided box for mounting the switches on the door, I routed the wiring easily to the armrest end caps where factory switches would be and used a keyhole hand saw to cut the appropriate size holes in the end caps for the switch mounting tabs to hold them in place, and it looks like a factory installation. I also swapped his fixed upper steering column and standard wheel for a tilt column with cruise, and his AM/FM radio for factory one with CD. Now, he's ENJOYING driving his XL truck that's still easy to keep clean with vinyl floor and seat, and he's ready for another 300,000 miles. Total investment about $275, and I have about 6 hours here and there in it. Mother-in-law is a great cook, so I came out way ahead !
