05-07 cupholders in a 99?

My cupholders in dash are not secure so the whole drawer can slide right out, and i dont like them anyway i was hoping that the 2005 cupholders in the front of the console can replace the tray that is already there, they look to be the same size to me but if anyone has tried this already and has a solution or failure to share i would appreciate any help.

It will fit but you will have to change the faceplate of the actual cup holder since it is a little different design.

Is there any benefit going to the 05-07 cup holders? I thought the only difference was the front of them....anyone got any pics to show difference?

Yep, I bought the complete assembly on eBay. Mid- 2000 they changed them to the newer style and they are so much better!

There's a benefit the newer cup holders.. They hold cans vs. poking two holes in the sides when you take a corner and it tips over..

Imagine going down a heavily washboarded gravel road with an unopened energy drink in the cup holder... then yea... it got me, both front doors, the back seat, and the windshield..
