door locks 2

how hard is it to chang my locks or rekey them? i bought my truck in august and my doors are keyed different than the ignition. i have an ignition key, but no door keys. i have a remote, but if the battery dies or something, i am screwed...


any ideas? should i get a locksmith to make me a key or change the locks?

Dunno what it's like in US, but here in UK any competent locksmith will make you a key, if you take the lock out and bring the barrel to him. As long as he stocks the key blanks it sems to be no problem. Last time I got it done, it cost £15 (about $27) for two keys and the guy did it while I waited.

Best to make a call, just to check your local guy can do it, before you go dismantling anything.

I have a complete set for a 99 and newer, if you can't get a locksmith to do it I can sell them to you. They are really easy to change out. Changing the door ones are the hardest because you need to remove the door panels. Th ignition one will come out in about 10 seconds.
