Another power window issue

I posted this in my build thread but was hoping to find some help here since its driving me crazy.

A few months back I rolled up both front windows and then the rears. The rears stopped halfway up and just quit. I checked all fuses and relays and everything was good. Ended up having to use 12v pwr supply directly to rear motors to get them up.

Was told it could be possible GEM failing but this is the only electronic problem I have. So a few days ago I just happened to try the windows and the rear driver side began to work. I assumed it was the switch panel. I pulled the switch panel and check continuity of all four switches and they checked out good. Cleaned all connections and still nothing but the dr rear window working. I'm getting power to both front and rear switch harnesses and check continuity between front and rear switch grounds. All were fine. Confusing part is when I try to use front driver window DOWN, the center relay on under dash fuse panel clicks. Doesn't do this trying the UP position. Swapped relays and same thing.

Does anyone know what the middle LARGE relay on fuse panel governs? Any help would be surely appreciated because I'm at wits end and really want to avoid dealership as I have neither time off work nor funds to spare at the moment.

I'm having a similar problem, except when i try to use my driver door control switches to roll down the windows one of my relays clicks and my dome light goes out and my windows and locks dont work any longer. The dealership has also tried to tell me that i need to replace my GEM. However after talking to a mechanic friend he played with the boot between the vehicle body and the front driver door and he was able to get everything to work but then experienced the same failure of all the windows and locks. my next step is to remove the drivers door to check all the wires inside that boot because it is sounding like either wires have rubbed together over time and are shorting out or a critter got up there and chewed them up.

Long story short, try to mess around with the wires inside the boot between the body and door and see if anything happens.

Thanks for the input! I'll give that a try in the next day or so when I get free time.
