Gauge cluster bulb replacement

So I have the gauge cluster out which was not to crazy difficult. Getting the bulbs out however seems impossible. There are these little black sockets that should turn I assume. But for the life of me I can't make them turn. My fingers hurt from trying. Turning to you guys for help before I destroy this thing. Is there some trick to this? I have attached a picture. Hopefully it works.

*edit
See below for how I got it to work.

Yeah, but they won't turn. I am going to have to turn them with a wrench to get some leverage, but am afraid I am going to break it.

So I got them out, but they were so hard to turn that I had to use a wrench to get some leverage. I put in some led lights from AutoZone. Very happy with them. Glad to be able to see all my gauges at night.
