Alternator pigtail=flashing battery dash light?

Hi guys and gals- 2001 F350 7.3 with a battery light that flashes intermittently, and/or steadily on. I read it could be wiring, pigtail, or alternator itself causing this. I looked at my 3-slot plug to alt to see it only has two wires that feed into it, but the new pigtail I saw at the store has 3-wire feed. Any advice on flashing battery light? Thanks!!

If it's been on there a while, it could just be going out.
I had one where the bearings started failing and it was 'slowing' down. I had belt rubber on the pulley where it was skidding on the belt from time to time.
I drove my truck on the alternator for about 6 years before it gave it up. Unfortunately, they do just fail sometimes. As to the pigtail, I think mine only has two wire in the plug.

Thanks. Were you having the intermittently flashing bat light too?
