headliner recover/repair

I removed the overhead console in my truck for multiple reasons but now i need to fill in the hole before i can recover it, has anyone done this? if so what did you use i have it removed already and it looks like some form of fiberglass but it is obviously still flexible which normal fiberglass is not and I am drawing a blank at what to use.
