01 X w/ Premium Sound - How to install radio?

2001 Excursion with Premium sound (Amp'd speakers) and factory TV.

Bought a wiring harness from Walmart, lists for this truck. However not premium sound.

1 of the 2 connectors in the dash, the walmart harness will fit, the other it will not.

I cannot find a straight answer anywhere on the internet on how to wire the alpine headunit I've got to make work.

-One forum said the factory amp only runs the rear speakers (3 sets, so I assume very very rear)
-Another forum said the amp runs all speakers
-install doctor talked about a conversion harness or manually rewiring the amp to work...

I just want the headunit to play the speakers... That's fine for now... Maybe down the road I'll amp the speakers but alpine headunit x 6 Kicker speakers + the 2 12s I've got sitting waiting for it will be PLENTY loud.

Do I really need a harness? Do I need to just wire it and see what happens? Do I need to re-route some wires from factory amp?

Very frustrating...

So just bit the bullet and installed the new alpine.

Only front speakers work. Guess its time to amp the rear and throw some subs in.

Blah.
