wheel & tire size

I am contemplating bigger tires, i currently run 16x8 with 285 75 16

If i install a leveling kit what is the largest tire i can run? I also have been told that running 305 stresses steering components?

What is the offset on the wheel? Thinking of going with a 17 or 18 inch k wheel.

All opinions are appreciated.

I run 35's on 18" rims but I have a 4" lift as well, not sure how bad 35's would rub with out a lift, Iv had to replace both of my front hubs since i have had these on so I would say they stress things pretty good although my truck is aslo 13 years old now. My friend runs 33's on 16" wheel and he just has a leveling kit, he has not had any issues.
