Bad CD message on ALL CDs

hey guys so i just joined this forum and also just recently bought my 02' 350. so im driving to work this morning at 5AM and go to play my CDs i had been listening to since yesterday and the stereo (6 cd in dash stock player) spits each one out displaying the message "bad CD". not sure why this is happening because i had played all 3 CDs the previous afternoon to double checked they were all good (they were) just wondering if anyone knows what the problem is or could be? it says bad CD for every type of cd. home made to bought in store CDs. any info helps. also if i have to buy a new stereo, where can i get a factory replacement for now other than ford dealers.

That's what I'm thinking. It's stopped doing that since I unplugged and reconnected the unit but a replacement is definitely on the list.

Mine just did the exact same thing to me last week. I can even hear the cd's rattling inside. It's the last straw for me. I'm done messing with problem after problem with the factory unit. Rather than spend 300 on a new ford unit I just spent the same on a new pioneer unit. Same price but Soooooo many more features. I considered a used ford unit but didn't want someone elses old junk that may crap out at any time. Too bad too because I actually liked the factory head unit. Plus the aftermarket double DINs require cutting to the dash. Not a huge deal because I can't see myself ever going back to the factory unit.
