Over head display not working??!! help?

I have a 2000 f250 supy duty with a 7.3 it got a little over 140,000 miles. when i bought the truck the overhead display that show outside temp, mpg, and direction. was working. now it dosen't. oh it will work if its below 30 deg. f outside. what should i do????

Mine is out right now too, it went out a while back and I took it down and plugged a resistor or something back in. I can't remember what was but it was clearly lose, I should have soldered it in while I had it out.

That's a common problem. A lot of times you can re-solder it and it works fine. But sometimes you have to get a new resistor or another board from a scarp truck.. Idk the size or type of resistor tho, but im pretty sure there was a thread on here or FTE that mentioned it..

Yeah I have seen that thread on here somewhere, I'll probably have to get a new board haha. That's my luck.

i thought about resoldering it and even going to a junk yard, but honestly its not worth my time..

i found a guy on ebay that "rebuilds" them 29.99

sent it not working, drive around for a week with the overhead console sitting behind the back seat, readout showed up...reinstalled, reset the compass....good to go.

for me yes.

if you need solder, and a soldering pen you have to purchase one not only does that account for $$ but its time also...

i have far too many things going on in everyday life to take the time to deal with the overhead unit.

track time with my kids, or changing oil on multiple bikes so we can go play is better spent to me that playing with and hoping it works.

sending it off to a guy that 100% positive feedback is fine by me...
