My truck is 4 wheel drive. Ive used it a few times and havent really had any issues with them. as far as them being vacumed I dont know. I would assume they are since they work off that little knob insted of a shifter like my old dodge. But my ac problem is kinda wierd. if i dont have the ac temp to low and the fan only around the 2nd setting i will get more air out of the driver and passenger vents. If i turn the temp in the 60's and fan all the way up it will blow out the defroster

this is a older thread you may want to start a new thread with all the exact issues and details of what your system is doing.

there is a button at the top left of the column that says new thread.

I have the same problem, it is not the compressor or the condenser. The air in mine will get warm when driving, but if you put the truck in neutral and rev the engine you can feel and here a door in the system close and now the air is cold again. i am still tracking down the problem. The first thing to check is the vacuum pump it should pump upto 15 and hold without leaking down. if it does not leak down check the vacuum on the 3 dashpots under the dash passengers side. 1 controls max air, 1 controls defrost and the settings on that side of the switch and the last which you have to remove the dash (which is easy, just pull it pops out and disconnect the wires) the others are accessable by dropping the glovebox and a kick panel under the glovebox held in place by 2 plastic rivets. If these all work well check the selector switch theyb are known to leak vacuum.

Mine made the same sounds. Sounded like something slamed shut under the hood on the passenger side when you rev the motor up past about 2000 rpm. Do yourself the favor and pull the washer spacer out from behind the hub on the compressor clutch disc. I used a c-clamp to hold the clutch disc to the pully, so I could remove the bolt out of the center. The clutch hub slides off of a spline shaft, may have to use a flat blade screw driver to help it start sliding off. I am in Utah right now and pulled a 24 enclosed trailer with 6 four wheelers in it (1500 miles). a/c worked flawlessly all the way here.

i removed the shim washer from the clutch last night. what are the gap tolerances for the clutch. I was over .035 before and now its .00?. The clutch does disengage when the ac is off but is this low/no gap going to cause problems?

Thanks
Tx
