Radio help!!

okay so i was in the truck today listening to a song i like had it up about half volume, i got a phone call so i went to turn it down and it only got louder! it would not go down at all no matter how slow i turned it, the only way i could get it down was hit the mute button in the top corner and start it from nothing again...anybody know what im talking about? any ideas on how to fix this??? its very annoying!
Thanks -Jon
